Northwest Folklife, in partnership with Seattle Center,
is thrilled to reveal the official artwork for the highly anticipated 2023 Northwest Folklife Festival (May 26-29, 2023). Created by a trio of exceptionally talented Seattle-based artists - Adetola Abatan, Vincent Keele, and Angelina Villalobos - this stunning piece showcases the Festival's 2023 Cultural Focus: LAGOM. Lagom, a Scandinavian term, has a variety of translations: balance, in moderation, gentle, suitable, and just the right amount. This theme is an exploration of our ability to find balance. Special thanks to sculptors Erik and Martin Demaine, with photography by Craig Cutler, for allowing us to use their MoMath Opening Centerpieces sculpture as inspiration for elements of the poster artwork.
