At A/NT Gallery weekend of Bumbershoot, 8/31 – 9/1 - Group photography exhibition, IYKYK (if you know you know), focuses on underground music scenes in the Pacific Northwest. Features work by LeLeita McKill, Damascus Purnell, Gary Campbell, and Luciano Ratto and Peter Ray. IYKYK captures fleeting moments of music vitality — seldom recognized in the media — in off-the-radar venues.
Documenting four genres (hip hop, bluegrass, punk, and dub reggae) the viewer is reminded that our music community is richer and more diverse and unapologetic than we think. Often, the only documentation is the work of these photographers – their images brilliant, fleeting moments, except for these photos, lost to spaces now demolished, talent passed away, and cultural shifts.
